As you can see I was not a happy bunny whilst reading this, this book managed to evoke so many emotions that I was absolutely spent by the end and I must have been a sadist because I read it in one sitting and at the end I was a complete mess!!

“I’m not sure you’ll ever understand, but I told you I need you more than I need my next breath. Since the day we met, from the second I laid eyes on you, there’s never been anyone else worth taking up a f**king inch of space in my mind”

Gail McHugh tells such a beautiful story, the writing sucks you in and doesn’t let you go, she always manages to make you live and breathe the story to a point that you are so submersed in her words that you could drown at any time. This book is highly emotional, extremely funny in places, extremely angsty but most of all passionate. The relationship between Gavin and Emily is palpable, you read it, you feel it, you live it and you end up loving it.

Pulse continues from where Collide finished Emily was getting married to the total douchebag Dillon and had ditched our loveable Gavin, why oh why god only knows!! Gavin makes a brilliant speech at the pre wedding dinner and gives Emily food for thought now it is up to her to make the right decision. After leaving the wedding dinner, Gavin can’t go on knowing what Emily is about to do so leaves for Mexico as soon as. He is so emotionally broken that he cannot stand to witness the car crash that he is certain would happen if he stayed.

Emily makes her choices but it is one that leaves her emotionally and physically scarred. She seeks out Gavin only to find that he is MIA and then her world falls apart. During their separation they both struggle, emotionally and physically, Emily wants to find him but does not know where to start, eventually she finds out his whereabouts and goes to seek him out and prays that he forgives her.

Gavin is extremely wary, he knows that he cannot take another battering emotionally from Emily, he is broken, destroyed, he knows his heart is fragile and mentally spent, can he trust her enough to give their love another go. His body physically says yes, but mentally???

There are many elements to this book:-

Firstly, can they trust one another enough to give their relationship another go.

Secondly, can Gavin heal the gaping hole in his heart enough to try again?

Thirdly, Emily is broken, can she mentally heal enough to give Gavin her all?

Fourthly, when Dillon is once again thrust into their lives, can he destroy everything they are fighting so hard for.

Fifthly, Is love enough to survive? When curveballs are thrown, are they both strong enough to survive, together?

I can’t say too much about this book as it would totally destroy the plot and this book is one hell of an experience, you have to read it to believe it and to feel it…I dare anyone to come out the other side unscathed. It truly batters you! You have been warned!! Yes you will need the Kleenex if you are an emotional person like me, there will be happy and sad tears, but all this emotion makes for one hell of a story.

Gavin is perfection personified, he truly loves Emily despite everything they have been through, I totally adore him.

“Each time you look at me the way you do, lay a shaky hand on my body, or your soft lips touch mine, you make me thank god for being a man. That’s how you thank me every day and that’s the way I hope that you continue to thank me for the rest of my life” Once again struck speechless, Emily wrapped her arms around his neck, bringing him down for a kiss. She had a feeling she’d experience countless “struck speechless” moments with Gavin. “Mmm. See? You just made love to me with that kiss.”

“We were written for one another, and I wouldn’t change one line in our romance novel. The good, the bad, the in between. It’s ours. We own it.”

I can’t swoon about this book enough, only that I loved it will all my heart, this is one series that I will be able to read over and over again, I highly recommend it. Go and 1click, you will not be disappointed.
