Blog Tour ~ Review & Giveaway ~ Spellbound by Sylvia Day

Book Description:

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sylvia Day comes a story of the ultimate seduction. . . .

Max Westin. Sex incarnate. She could smell it, feel it with his proximity. Everything about him was a little rough, a little gritty. He was a primitive creature. Just like her.

He held her hand a little too long, his gaze, under thick lashes, clearly stating his intention to have her. To tame her. . . .

"Victoria."

Her name, just one word, but spoken with such possession she could almost feel the collar around her neck.

"It's in your nature," he murmured. "The desire to be taken."

In this game of cat and mouse, everything is an illusion, but the passion is as real as it gets. . . .

"To submit is not to be weak. You would not be less of a woman, but so much more of one."

This is a strange one to review. I have never read a book before that has been laid out in this way before and for me this is what in some respects let the book down. The book was written from three different points in time, almost like 3 novella’s put together in one book therefore you didn’t get the build up and depth of characters you would normally expect from a Sylvia Day book. The time jumps were not obvious either and I found myself going back to see if I had missed something.

However, what was there was really good. I loved the characters and the premise of the book, but as I said above it just lacked the punch for me. I just wanted to know more about the characters and how their relationship developed over the period.

This book is a paranormal, Max Westin is a Warlock, a very sexy Warlock who is at the top of his game, he has been sent on a mission to tame a Familiar (feline) called Victoria. She has gone somewhat rogue in a way of seeking revenge for the death of her true love Darius who was a Warlock himself. When he died though, he had passed his powers onto Victoria making her more powerful than any other Familiar.

As with all Sylvia Day books the sexual chemistry between these two was smoking and off the charts, you felt their connection. I loved the way that they both felt the same and always put each other first, no matter what…this could be their undoing though! While they were extremely strong as a unit, their incessant need to protect each other also caused more problems for them. Victoria thought she had found love with Darius but what she felt for Max went beyond that and I really felt as if they both had found their soul mates and that they were destined for each other.

I would love to read more about these two, perhaps as a continuous story rather than a collection of shorts.
