Review ~ Archers Voice (A sign of love #4) by Mia Sheridan

“Sometimes an understanding silence was better than a bunch of meaningless words.”

This is without a doubt one of the best books I have read, and is now one of my all-time favourites. It is unique, original, emotional and angsty but perfectly balanced and is certainly one story that will stay with me for a very long time. Mia Sheridan is a super talented author, she has that knack of drawing you in to her characters so that they are all encompassing, you feel them, you live them and you breathe them, and once you finish the book, they are all you can think about and Archer has stayed with me for a very long time.

Archer…what can I say about Archer…I can’t even put into words what I felt for this guy. Such an amazing, inspirational character, he had his alpha tendencies, but he was emotional, compassionate, he had his vulnerabilities but his actions spoke louder than words. He had lived a shit life, there was no denying, a town where prejudices were prevalent and he was the butt of the rumours, the gossip, the social pariah, he kept himself to himself as that was all he knew, he was just misunderstood, that was until he met Bree.

“They don’t know who you are, Archer. They have no idea. And they don’t deserve to know. Don’t let their judgment hurt you.”

Bree was starting a new life in Pelion, running from her past, wanting to start over where she could overcome her own inner demons. When she ran into Archer she felt a connection, she wanted to know more, he was intriguing and looked like he needed a friend. She couldn’t help but feel for Archer, something was telling her to persevere, deep down she knew that he needed her and also maybe she needed him.

Their slow building friendship was beautiful to watch, Bree has the patience of a saint as she tries to convey to Archer that there is more to life than what he was living. Slowly but surely she manages to bring Archer out of his shell and opens his eyes to new experiences , even the smallest mundane tasks meant so much to both of them. They both begin to cherish the time that they spend together and look forward to it as part of their daily routine.

“How do you teach a man who has lost everything, not to fear it happening again?”

Bree takes Archer on a voyage of self-discovery eventually leading to the faint flicker of love between them, what starts as a little ember soon morphs into a raging fire and once these two eventually concede to their feelings the result is magical and beautiful to read.

“I want to be able to love you more than I fear losing you, and I don’t know how. Teach me, Bree. Please teach me. Don’t let me destroy this.”

I would love to go into details about their story, but I can’t, it would spoil it for all you readers. This is one story that you need to read for yourself, cherish it, savour it, devour it, but most of all learn from it. Not only is this an amazing love story, but it is also an amazing life story. Something we could all learn something from.

As I said above the character connection in this book is phenomenal, you cannot help but be drawn into their beautiful story of friends to lovers. Even the coldest of hearts would be warmed reading this. But most of all this is a book about changing public perceptions don’t judge a book by its cover; take time to understand the person beneath the façade. Things are not always what we perceive them to be, but perhaps they just need that little chance to show their true colours and flourish. People are all too quick in life to be judgemental, but sometimes, all you need is that little bit of strength and understanding to make the first move, after all, it may be life changing for someone, including yourself.

Seriously though, I cannot convey how much this book affected me, my heart, my head were all a mess, and I had tears of sadness and happiness, but most of all I knew that I had been on one hell of an emotional journey. This is one of those books that you know you had read, you won’t forget it and Archer will most definitely leave his imprint on your heart, this is one character that you cannot fail to fall in love with. Archer Hale is now up there on my BBF list and I haven’t had a new entry for quite some time!

“And I thought to myself, Archer Hale’s voice was one of the most beautiful things in the whole wide world.”

Mia Sheridan, you continue to amaze me and I seriously cannot wait for more in this series, once again an amazing read, truly and utterly fabulous!

  1. Mia Sheridan is truly an inspiring and inspirational author/writer. I've read Archer's Voice twice and like yourself, Archer's Voice has definitely stayed with me! I've read all of Ms. Sheridan's books so far and have loved them (Stinger especially) and can't wait to read more from this sensational author!
