Blog Tour, Excerpt, Review & Giveaway ~ Love Unspoken (Flawed Love #2) by Lisa De Jong

Love Unspoken by Lisa De Jong is FINALLY here!

Blake, Lila and Pierce's story continues in the newest addition to the Flawed Love Series!

Book Description:

I lent my heart to the bad boy, and he did exactly what I expected he would. He broke it.

And the guy I should have been with—he’s still here. He tries to take my mind off everything I’ve
lost while showing me what I could have. I’m ready for a new start, to fall in love again … to do what I should have done in the first place.

Everything seems perfect.

Then the past comes walking back in. I thought I was over him, but one look and I know that’s not true. We went through too much together for those feelings to completely fade away.

When my past and present collide, how am I supposed to choose? They both love me, and I love them.
A heart will be broken … and it could be mine.

Excerpt:

“If I had come home sooner, would I have had a chance?” he asks, sinking down in the bed until we’re eye to eye. He knows he’s making it impossible for me to skirt around the truth.
Eyes don’t easily lie to eyes.
“Yes,” I whisper. “I waited for you. Until New York, it would have been you.”
His fingers come up, gently brushing a piece of hair from my forehead. “I really fucked up with you, didn’t I?”
“Neither of us was in the right place. It wasn’t our time.”
He moves closer, brushing his thumb against my cheek. My conscience whispers but the tequila screams. “When will it be our time?”
I think about Pierce. This weekend. Everything. “It may never come, or maybe, it’s already passed.”
“I’m going to fight for you,” he declares, propping himself up on his elbow to look down at me. “I thought I could let you go if I knew it would make you happy, but after sitting alone in this apartment all weekend while you were with him, I don’t think I can do that.”
I swallow hard. “And, if you don’t win?”
“I’ve already lost, so what do I have left to lose?”
And, he’s right. He’s already lost so much that the risk is minimal.
“Pierce trusts me,” I blurt, my palms sweating against the sheets.
He leans in, kissing my cheek. “He shouldn’t trust me, not when he has the one thing I want.”
“Blake?”
He slips out of my bed without looking back, carefully closing the bedroom door behind him. He wanted the last word, and he got it.

“Love is complicated, and in its best form, it’s unspoken.”

I read both these books back to back and I am glad that I did, I don’t think I could have waited for Love Unspoken to be released. This is one of those stories whereby the author pulls you in to these characters lives and they just take over.  For the hours that I spent devouring these two books all I could think about were Lila, Blake and Pierce.

“Wounds that deep always leave scars.”

This is another one of those books where everything is a spoiler so I can’t even really go into details either. This story continues where book one ended and Lila was alone, Blake had left and everyone else was left behind to pick up the pieces. Lila was truly distraught, having moved to Chicago to get over one heart break it was too soon to be going through another and it really took its toll.

I have to admit, at the end of book one, despite what he did, I was Team Blake; there is something about a broken man that really tugs are your heart strings. I felt his pain, I felt his anguish, I felt his guilt, I just felt everything and his poor soul just resonated deep within me. But Blake has his own demons to fight and in hind sight I could understand his reasoning, and knowing what I know now he did the right thing for him, but perhaps he could have been a bit more open in the first place.

However, with Blake out of the picture we have Pierce waiting on the periphery and he has to have been the most patient person in the world. He has given Lila time to grieve the loss of her relationship with Blake and finally months and months later he feels he can finally try his chances. Pierce really comes into his own in this book, we see a totally different side to him and there is no doubt in my mind that he absolutely loves Lila. Pierce has it bad, seriously bad and I have to admit by the time this book really comes into its own I was on #teamFENCE. I loved both of these men in their own right, each having their own unique qualities that endeared them both. So once again, I was torn, extremely torn.

“Our hearts weren’t made to hold one person. They were made to love many with a special place for the one we love the most.”

Lisa De Jong has always had a way with words and the emotions that she manages to evoke from me always come from deep within. I had so many tears and I mean guttural sobbing tears. This book destroyed me in parts and while there can only be one winner, no matter who it was, my heart would have been decimated for the other. This is testament to Lisa De Jong’s talents, because it takes some talent to evoke that kind of reaction, it doesn’t happen often. Yes I cry fairly easily, but to the point of guttural sobbing, not so much.  I was not a pretty sight and by the end, even though I should have been happy, I couldn’t help but feel for the one left behind.

“I’ve already lost, so what do I have left to lose?”

This would have been a 4.5 rating for me, but I felt that the ending was a little rushed. While the story still read well, I felt once both men were back on the scene again it all happened too quickly. I also needed to hear more from the person left behind. But I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this series, I couldn’t put either book down and at the end I just wanted more. I am hoping that Lisa De Jong writes a book for the man left behind. As I said above, no matter who it was, they had made an impression and I am sure for most Lila’s choices will always be questioned, but he needs a book, I need to see him happy.

Lastly, I have to say Lisa De Jong; three little words killed me in this book. They ripped open my already decimated heart. How three little words could have that effect is a feat in itself, but what a powerful quote.

“You’re my Blake.”
