Friday Frights ~ PNR Review ~ The Good the Bad and the Vampire (Dead in the City #4) by Sarah Humphreys

Book Description:

Beloved author Sara Humphreys' acclaimed paranormal romance series continues with sweltering attraction between two vampires who have all the time in the world to satisfy their desires...

He wants eternity?
Dakota Shelton is a vampire cowboy with a penchant for cinnamon lollipops and Johnny Cash. Though highly skilled and deadly dangerous to his enemies, he's still a Texas good ol' boy at heart. And he has that heart set on wooing Trixie LaRoux-the most badass punk rock chick in town-the old-fashioned way.

Over her undead body...
Trixie is tough as nails and sharp as a silver stake-the last thing she wants is a man to sit on a porch and not grow old with. So it'll take going to hell and back fighting a new threat to vampires before she admits Dakota's courtship makes her blood hum. Turns out chivalry's not dead after all.

Praise for The Good, the Bad, and the Vampire....
"Sara Humphreys combines vampire and cowboy into a devastatingly sexy hero! The Good, the Bad, and the Vampire is a compelling, pulse-pounding, titillating adventure that grabs you from the first page, tosses you down, and steals your breath. Humphreys is a must-read in the paranormal genre!"--NYT Bestselling Author, Rebecca Zanetti

Here we are again with the latest book from this marvelous series and I must say what a really great story it is. It has it all, a story that pulls you in from the first page the only way Sara Humphreys can.

I loved seeing the characters from previous books mentioned as it shows how well this series is progressing. This book is about Trixie our badass punk rock chick vampire with a hard exterior that she shows to everyone she meets and the new comer Dakota. A cowboy vampire who comes to New York from Texas to work as a sentry for the Presidium. I loved the way he talked, I could hear that sexy Texan drawl in my head as I read the book and it gave me shivers down my spine oooh wow so sexy.

This is a great fast moving story with sexy, erotic lovemaking between Trixie and Dakota although it certainly didn't start off like that in fact Trixie was very good at keeping gorgeous Dakota at arm’s length with her sharp tongue even though she knew there was something special between them. Dakota had been drawn to Trixie since he first started working at the Presidium, he had not been interested in women for over fifty years since being turned so this attraction he feels for Trixie is something new to him, something he is doing his best to come to grips with but it was so strong he just couldn’t stay away from her.

The story starts off with Dakota finding out a secret that Trixie has carefully kept from everyone in her family. He had been told to follow Trixie as her family was worried about her. This meeting did not go well when she realised that Dakota had followed her, Trixie was very angry that he had found her, but even though she ranted at him she couldn't deny the strong feelings that Dakota brought out in her, something she hasn't felt for any other vampire before and when he reached out and touched her

“Tender and rough. Sweet but lethal. How would it feel to have these hands running over her sensitive parts of her anatomy? Too be cherished, cradled and coveted”

It was from this meeting that the story kicks off with enemies of old to the vampires showing up. It builds into an exciting story line and evolves into much more than anyone could imagine. While all this is going on Trixie and Dakota are having to spend much more time together and their strong attraction for each other grows.

Dakota wanted to discover the real woman under all of Trixie's bravado. He couldn't get enough of her, he needed to feel her body against him

“She made him feel like a man. A red-blooded horny-as-hell man.”

He was swamped by lust for the first time since becoming a vampire.

New things are happening to Trixie which shows her a very startling truth involving Dakota and herself which she has to come to terms with amongst everything that is happening around them, but the truth of the strong feelings these two share couldn't be denied and the first time they had the privacy to follow these feelings through and boy was it hot. It was hard, fast and so good

“The sounds of flesh slapping against flesh and the groans of pleasure mingled in the air. As Dakota's orgasm crested in unison with Trixie's, he dipped his head and whispered into her mind. I want all of you and I give you all of me. I love you Trixie.”

This story has it all. Lust, love, lies and fierce battles. Vampire readers will adore it. Well done Ms Humphreys. Brilliant.
