GONE.
He's gone away,
Deployed.
My biggest fear realized.
Well, my second biggest fear.
He's overseas, but he's alive.

When Loïc left, my heart went with him.
In shattered pieces of good-bye.
Until we are together again…

GONE.
Leaving her was the hardest thing I've ever done.
Until I got here.
The danger, the fear, the pain—
It's real.

I promised I'd get back to her.
A promise I'm determined to keep.
A vow that might be harder than I thought.
A battle of my heart.
A war with my mind.
A fight to return to London…

“…it’s the secrets one buries the deepest that have the power to destroy them. And though I love to be right, when it comes to that, I hope I’m wrong.”

Ellie Wade, Ellie Wade, Ellie Wade is my public enemy number one at the moment…once again she has decimated me. I’m sure this, what appears to be a quiet and timid author has one huge artery of evil running through her that fuels her evil, black heart…seriously, every. Single. Time. She kills me! But that is what I love the most about Ellie Wade’s writing, it is so emotive, the character connection so on point that you cannot help but love these characters with such ferocity that when they hurt you hurt, and I hurt bad, really bad.

“Yet, somehow, our imperfections work seamlessly together to make our flaws into something more. More compassion. More love. More understanding. Simply more.”

Keeping London starts where Finding London ended and this book covers the time before Loic’s deployment and during. The first part of Keeping London, for me was a little slow, but I loved and I mean loved, what London and Loic got up to in the days before his deployment. While these two are polar opposites in so many ways one thing they have in common and keeps them together is the sincere and complete love that they have for one and other. Loic is put in uncomfortable situations but he copes with finesse and a lot of heat! But it is these escapades that introduces some great secondary characters that really lightened this book in the first half and that much needed humour was extremely welcomed, but, and this is a huge BUT, it is that evil authors twisted way of luring you into a false sense of security before she rips your heart out, spits on it, stomps on it and rips it up into teeny, tiny pieces. This was definitely the calm before the storm.

“I mean, you know, it’s not the size of the ship but the motion of the ocean anyway. But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to mention it now. It was really small.”

Once Loic is deployed, Ellie Wade had me swooning A LOT, what should be the hardest time for these two actually makes these two grow as individuals and as a couple. Their email messages, their Skype sessions and care packages all made my heart soar, made me laugh, swoon and just fall in love with these two all the more. The questions that these two ask back and forth had me grinning from ear to ear, laughing one minute and all teary the next. So if you haven’t guessed, yes, this is one emotional roller coaster.

“Somehow, someway…I have to. If you love someone, set them free. If you love someone… Set. Them. Free.”

I really cannot say anymore, because everything is a spoiler, but I just want to get across just how well Ellie Wade nailed the intense emotion and character connection throughout. I cried for Britain, I hurt like a mofo, I was swearing, I threw my kindle, I was so damn angry. There are people I trust and people I don’t and there is one person in particular in this story that I don’t trust AT ALL. Just that person’s presence makes me break out in hives and after this book that person is totally irredeemable. Ellie Wade shook me to my core with one particular plot twist that I never saw coming and to be honest, one that I still haven’t recovered from. So much was packed into this book in the last half that I barely came up for breath unless I was unceremoniously blowing my nose or wiping away my floods and floods of tears. But, what a way to end this book, this book was certainly no filler as is often commonplace. This book had it all and to be honest, even this review is not cathartic. I thought having all my thoughts and opinions on paper would ease the tightness in my chest, but alas, no. I guess I will just have to wait a few months…I NEED BOOK THREE!!

“She’s everything that I never had the courage to wish for, but for some reason, I was lucky enough to find her, I just hope I can keep her.”

PS: I need to make a huge deal of these covers, both Finding London and Keeping London are two of the most stunning covers I have seen. I adore them. That’s all.
