For The Love of English by A.M. Hargrove
Release Date: September 15th, 2016

Book Description:

From USA Today Bestselling Author, A.M. Hargrove, comes a New Adult, Single Dad, Sexy, Stand Alone Romance.

Single dad, Beckley Bridges, is sexy as hell.
No, really, he’s the hottest thing since the sun was created.
Honest to God, crack an egg on him and the thing will sizzle.
So what’s the problem?
He’s also a gigantic jerk.
I hate the bastard.
I try to avoid him at all costs.
But for some reason, everywhere I go he seems to show up.

Only the real issue is his daughter, English.
She’s an adorable quirky first-grader who’s the sweetest thing since iced tea.
And she’s one of my students but also the love of his life.
So I have to deal with him on a professional level.
It’s not easy.
On a scale of easy to hard, dealing with Beckley Bridges is like nails screeching across a blackboard.

But when English’s mother tries to gain custody after abandoning her on Beckley’s doorstep as an infant, he’ll do anything possible to keep English under his roof.

That’s how he ends up propositioning me.

And crazy as it sounds?

I find myself considering it.

This is a full-length novel that includes mature content not suitable younger readers.

“When life hands you rotten eggs, don’t eat the fuckers. Just throw them at someone you hate.”

This was a book that definitely left me “under the rainbow” today. AM Hargrove is one of those authors where I go in blind so I really didn’t know what I would be getting until I started reading. AM Hargrove delivers a heart stopping, beautiful, sexy, sweet, heart numbing, adorable story that will leave you with the warm and fuzzies. A story whereby a single teenage dad steps up to the plate to raise his little daughter, a little girl whose ambition in life is to be happy, to be “under the rainbow” every single day.

Beckley Bridges’ life changed one day with an unexpected brown box delivery, a brown box that contained his baby daughter with a note and legal parental rights papers saying she was the result of a one night stand and that the mother couldn’t cope. He was at college, his life was there for the taking, but as soon as he clapped eyes on that little baby bundle he became one over protective father that lived and breathed for his daughter’s happiness. An adorable, clever, quick witted little girl called, English. A girl that you couldn’t help but fall in love with. Now a successful photographer, Beck has come to that time in life where English starts school and it is here that his path crosses with Sheridan Monroe.

“You’re the most important thing to me now. Do you hear what I’m saying? English is going to grow up and leave, but I want you with me forever.”

Sheridan had just completed her own education and was embarking on the career that she had always wanted. This is her first tenure as a teacher and she is as nervous as hell. Being a first grade teacher she feels it is up to her to make their education a happy experience so that school becomes a fun place and her class is the foundation that can mar their educational minds forever. Sheridan though had a heart of gold and had nothing to worry about.

Sheridan and English’s connection was instantaneous. There was something about this little girl that melted Sheridan into a pile of a goo. A little girl that was wary yet astute and didn’t show her emotions to everyone. English though loved Miss Monroe and their connection went way beyond teacher and student, a connection that would only flourish as time went by.

“I told Daddy to be nice to you because you’re our rainbow.”

I really don’t want to say anymore because you need to read this story page by page. The emotions that AM Hargrove evokes with ease will have you smiling and laughing one minute and crying tears the next. The relationship between Beck and Sheridan is far from conventional, yet their underlying love for one another was always there, that tangible connection that they were both oblivious to until it hits them like a steam train. Two people that were drawn together by their mutual love and adoration of the most cutest, sweetest little girl who really made this book.

“We fit perfectly together, not a conflict, but a true harmony.”

But this is not all hearts and flowers, this is a book with real issues that are faced every minute of every day by single fathers. It is this plot line that really makes this book so much more than a single dad love story. Beck would lay his life down for English and nothing makes your heart beat faster than a father with that unconditional love, a love so fierce that I felt everything from his little glances, his actions, his protectiveness and his words, his love for that little girl poured from the pages.

“We all have flaws, Beck. But as long as you recognise your mistakes, that’s what’s important.”

But, this is also a love story and that initial love/hate relationship was the initial spark that these two needed to rage into a blazing inferno and AM Hargrove captured this slow build to perfection. The chemistry was palpable and with each tortured confrontation between the two I was frantically waiting for the moment that these two connected in all ways and AM Hargrove didn’t disappoint.

“If it weren’t for the love of English, I wouldn’t be standing here.”

This book had it all, a fantastic plot, fantastic dialogue, chock full of emotion with some amazing characters. But most of all, it sends a message and it is a message that I will definitely be taking away. People may think they know what is right, who is right, what situations are right, but the heart knows what is right. Sometimes it is okay to go with the heart, your gut instincts, nothing is ever black and white…the world is a rainbow. Live your life under the rainbow.
