Book Description:

They're dangerous men. Absolute enemies. And totally hot for each other. Will has never met anyone like Kit. He’s arrogant. Gorgeous. Lethal. The most expensive bodyguard money can buy. And Will can’t seem to resist him. A simple command in Kit's cut-glass accent makes Will want things he’s never wanted, do things he’s never done. Their red-hot chemistry is off the charts. Just one problem: Will has vowed to kill the billionaire that Kit is hell-bent on protecting. And Kit has secrets, too—his own reasons for sacrificing his soul, piece by painful piece, to keep one of the worst men on earth alive. This is a stand-alone contemporary M/M romance.

“Sometimes you have to disengage your personal conscience in order to achieve the greater good.”

For those that have read my review for Enemies with Benefits you will know how much I itched to read Enemies Like You. Enemies with Benefits was the perfect appetizer and I couldn’t wait to dive into the main course. I have to be honest, I inhaled this book. I could not read it quick enough and it ticked so many boxes. It wasn’t quite what I expected and yet was more than I did. I loved the constant surprises that these two authors hit the reader with and that constant feeling of anticipation never dissipated throughout this book. This book was about espionage and spies, the UK and the US combining their talents to bring a master manipulator to their knees. This was James Bond meets Rambo and it was damn addicting.

So, Annika Martin and Joanna Chambers give us some of my favourite tropes…enemies to lovers, spies and seriously, seriously hot MM action. I must admit I did read this book as fiction and literary licence was liberally given because I am sure true spies and mercenaries would never have their attention diverted to that extreme by a hot bod, but this is a book, a romantic suspense and the rules went out the window as soon as Will got down on his damn knees (I’m still fanning myself BTW.) Seriously though, these two are combustible, all that sexual tension along with some seriously intense chemistry had me from the word “knees.”

“I need to get away from his orbit, but instead I draw closer – loathing him – loathing everything. “You disgust me.”
“But you still want me to fuck you, don’t you?”

Will and Kit should be sworn enemies, yet neither can deny the attraction and both have the uncanny ability to truly understand the other. The connection that these two have is extremely dangerous, for both of them, and yet that danger seems to add to the allure. These two are fighting against each other…or are they? One wants the Russian dead, the other desperate to keep him alive until his breath is no longer required. Will these two continue to compete against the other, or could two heads be better than one?

“I won’t just neutralise him…I’ll make him suffer…He’ll never see me coming.”

This is a book that continued to surprise me, at every turn these two authors continued to thwart my thought process as just as I thought I had it all fathomed out, they pulled the rug from under me. But I love a book that keeps you on your toes and this one did that in spades. I don’t want to go into too much detail because this book relies on the plot and you definitely need to read it yourself to appreciate the ride that these two authors take you on.

I would have loved an epilogue for this one, unless these two authors are going to write another of course and while I felt the ending was a little rushed it in no way hindered my enjoyment of the book as a whole. As I said above, I inhaled this book and I am seriously hoping that this is not the last I hear from this dynamic duo, that is Will and Kit as well as Martin and Chambers.

About the Authors:

Joanna Chambers always wanted to write. In between studying, finding a proper grown up job, getting married and having kids, she spent many hours staring at blank sheets of paper and chewing pens. That changed when she rediscovered her love of romance and found her muse. Joanna's muse likes red wine, coffee and won't let Joanna clean the house or watch television.

Connect with Joanna:

Annika Martin is a NYT bestselling author who enjoys writing dirty stories about dangerous criminals and hot spies. She loves helping animals and kicking snow clumps off the bottom of cars around the streets of Minneapolis, and in her spare time she writes as the RITA award-winning author Carolyn Crane.
