Release Day Blitz & Review ~ Hero by Lauren Rowe

Hero, an all-new sexy and emotional standalone romance by Lauren Rowe is Available NOW!

Book Description:

A standalone contemporary romance in the MORGAN BROTHERS SERIES from USA Today Bestselling Author Lauren Rowe. The story of firefighter Colby Morgan that proves heroes come in many forms . .

The first time I laid eyes on Lydia Decker, I couldn’t speak. Or breathe. Or string two coherent thoughts together.

And I don’t mean any of that figuratively.

I’m not talking about a guy being floored by the sight of a gorgeous woman—although, of course, Lydia is gorgeous beyond words.

No, when I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker—my physical therapist—I was lying flat on my back in the ICU, high as a kite on painkillers, breathing on a ventilator, my bones as broken and splintered as my spirit.

When I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker, she was a ray of light in the dark. Hope for the hopeless. A salve for my singed and battered soul.

She said she’d been assigned to fix me. That she was there to bring me back to life. She said helping me was her calling.

And then she touched me. Physically, emotionally, spiritually. She healed me.

And I fell in love.

But what I didn’t know . . . what I couldn’t possibly know . . . was that Lydia Decker needed fixing far more than I ever did.

“Because to know you is to love you…”

Lauren Rowe has fast become one of my favourite authors and with every new book this author puts out the more and more I fall in love with her words. Whether it be her innate sense of humour or her emotional, sensitive composition, she never fails to bring her characters to life and embed them into your heart and soul and Hero is no different.

Colby is a hero you will be rooting for from the very beginning. Lucky to be alive after a house fire grew tragically out of control, he is battered and bruised and fighting for his life in hospital. The scars maybe visible on the outside, but it is the scars he keeps inside that haunt him the most. Colby was the epitome of a GQ model, and now that body is marred and scarred, his confidence is knocked for six and physical therapy is the last thing on his mind…until he meets his physical therapist.

Lydia is Colby physical therapist and is the first person he sees when he opens his eyes and it was definitely love at first sight. Even under the influence of anaesthesia and pain meds, Colby brought his flirting A game. Lydia though has scars of her own. Being a single mum is hard and having to put on a brave face day in day out is even harder. Lydia, like Colby hides her scars on the inside and on the face of it, these two were far from a good match.

“…love doesn’t come tied up in a nice little box with a ribbon around it. Love is messy and scary and full of risk. Love is risk. It’s walking on a tightrope between skyscrapers. It’s being shot out of a cannon and jumping out an aeroplane at thirty thousand feet and trusting your parachute will open. And, sometimes, love is watching the one you love walk out the door and knowing he might never come home again because it’s who he is – but you’re willing to love him anyway.”

These two together were simply adorable, both fighting their past and trying to find their place in the present. Lauren Rowe brought her emotional A game with Hero, and many a tear was spilled as these two navigated their way through their pasts, their insecurities and their fears. Together, these two just worked, they fed off one and other, grounded each other, they were each other’s strength and confidante. The relationship that flourished was stunning to witness and with the addition of adorable children, combusting ovaries will be par for the course.

“There are five hearts on the line here: yours, Lydia’s, and those three kids’. If anyone’s heart is going to get broken, then be the Morgan man we’ve raised you to be and make sure the only heart that gets broken is yours.”

Once again Lauren Rowe has penned a winner in my eyes, her humour prevalent when needed yet she brings home all those emotions with guttural sucker punches. I loved the dialogue; the chemistry was on point and the kids…not a dry eye. Lauren Rowe gives a great insight into the psychological aspect of our often-unsung heroes and gives you an honest, true account that can only make you appreciate them all the more. Totally adored this book.

“When the other girls see you dancing with me, and how beautiful you are, they’re all going to wish you were their daddy…But I’m going to tell them, ‘Nope. Sorry. You can’t have my Colby because he’s all mine.”
