Friday Frights ~ PNR Reviews ~ King's (The King Trilogy) by Mimi Jean Pamifloff

Reviewed by Shirley ~ 5 Stars

This book is the beginning of a brilliant and cannot put down series. It starts with a young successful woman called Mia, hearing the terrifying news that her younger brother Justin, an archaeologist who was working at a dig in Mexico has disappeared with his colleagues.

Mia jumped on the first plane out to Mexico with the intent on finding out what had exactly happened to him, only to meet a brick wall, no one knew anything helpful to tell her, in fact they all told her to go back home, even being threatened at the airport. Mia was at a loss. What the hell was going on?

Back home not deterred she went different places to see if she could do anything at her end, only to find that her hands were tied until one woman took pity on her and gave Mia a name and address, telling her this was the man to go to, he could find anyone or anything for a price and he went by the name of King.

Going to the address she was given their first meeting did not get off to a very good start as he mistook Mia for the call girl he had hired that evening. Once the air was cleared King agreed to help Mia but the price was herself to do as he commanded.

Desperate to find Justin Mia agreed not thinking it out exactly all that was involved. That was the night Mia’s life changed forever.

The more Mia got to know King, the less she knew. Who or what King was, was a mystery, at one point she thought he was a demon, but the underlying attraction she felt for this very attractive man, even though at times he frightened her.

After one of their outings for information about what had happened to Justin, Mia blacked out, only to find herself waking up in her hotel room with King, which led to them having a very erotic encounter.

“He slowly dipped his head, and when his lips pushed against mine, I closed my eyes and relished the roughness of his kiss. He plunged his tongue between my lips, and I opened my mouth to him. The kiss was dangerous and dark. It was claiming and brutal. It pounded its way right through me, sending a hard heat charging between my legs.

I couldn't get enough.”

and then I woke up for real, to reality.

I was still in bed and King was across the room sitting in a chair, just looking at me, being his normal obnoxious self.

What is happening to me?

Also King pointed out to me a tattoo on my wrist, the letter K.

"Are you insane?"

He leaned down to whisper in my ear. "What would you like me to say, Mia? That I own you? Every inch of you?

That even those dark spaces inside your head belong to me? Because you do. You are mine now."

Oh my god. Oh my god. He's the devil.

From here on in, in the search for her brother, weird things started to happen to Mia. From finding out about something she never knew about herself. To trying to work out King, wondering what the hell she had gotten herself into. It was verry interesting and mind boggling to say the least.

What a book, could not put it down. This book rocks. Down loading book 2 right now.

Ms Pamifloff awesome series.

Blog Tour ~ Excerpt, Playlist, Trailer & Giveaway ~ Bang (Black Lotus 1) by E.K. Blair

FINALcoverphoto-2

Book Description:

They say when you take revenge against another you lose a part of your innocence.
But I’m not innocent.
I haven’t been for a very long time.
My innocence was stolen from me. Taken was the life I was supposed to have. The soul I was born with. The ruby heart embedded in a life full of hopes and dreams.

Gone.
Vanished.

I never even had a choice.
I mourn that life. Mourn the what-ifs.
Until now.
I’m ready to take back what was always meant to be mine.

But every plan has a fatal flaw. Sometimes it’s the heart.

**Due to the dark and explicit nature of this book, it is recommended for mature audiences only as some scenes may be particularly disturbing.**

BangTeaser1nodate

Excerpt:

“Lotus,” I say, acknowledging the name of the hotel.

“Interesting choice. Why Lotus?”
“There’s something about a beautiful, nearly flawless flower, emerging from muddled water.”

“Hmm.” I pause before stating, “Self-reflection,” inferring that the meaning strikes a chord with himself.

Tilting his head to look at me, his breath feathering my cheek, he says, “Is this you trying to dissect me?”

“Is there something lying beneath that I should be looking for?”

“Everyone has something beneath that they’re hiding.” He peers into me. At least that’s what he wants me to believe, but I’m not permeable. I soften anyway, giving him the sense that he’s actually having an effect on me. I blink a few times and shift myself, cueing him that I’m nervous, and then he asks, “So what is it? Tell me what you think you’ve found.”

I only know I would do whatever was required of me to keep Portia, but in a world of witches, warlocks, and demons, anything can happen.

About Lacey:

Lacey Weatherford was born in Ft. Meade Maryland while her father was serving in the military. She has been a life long resident of Arizona, spending most of her time growing up in the small rural town of Clay Springs.

It was while she was attending the small country school in Clay Springs, that she read her first "big" book at the age of eight. It was a Nancy Drew novel and Lacey was instantly hooked. She read every book that she could find in the series and decided that she wanted to write stories too.

Lacey spent a lot of time at the library from that time forward, even volunteering in her later teen years and early twenties. She would don a crazy clown outfit for the Friends of the Library fundraisers in an effort to help get the new town library built.

When she and her husband moved away from the area, Lacey took the opportunity to take some creative writing classes at the local college to help further along her interests. Several years later, they were blessed with the opportunity to move back to Clay Springs with their family. The town had finally succeeded in building their library and Lacey had the opportunity to be President of the Friends of the Library for a very short time, before relocating.

Lacey and her family still live in the White Mountains of Arizona, where she continues to write young adult novels that have a fantasy/fairytale or paranormal bent to them, as well as being sure to include a great romantic storyline!

EXCERPT

Amara hung up the phone and clutched it tightly in her hand so that she wouldn’t throw it against the
wall. Pushing her shoulders back, Amara walked over to Vivienne with a new purpose. She wouldn’t let her father or Philip have the last say in this. Amara slid back into the booth and picked up the papers again, this time skimming through each page and the fine print at the end. In short, it was a two-year contract that required her to be free of relationships. The words almost made her sob.
What would that mean for her and Colin? Would she have to give him up? Would he let her? Amara closed her eyes and took a deep breath, not wanting to think about that. The rest of it was simple: be on call, on time, dress in the required clothing, no sexual favors unless Amara agreed to them. Vivienne would provide a furnished apartment for her—clothing, food, and anything else she would need. The last stipulation in the contract was that she was not to get a job until her two years were up. Whatever money she made in the escort service, she would give to Philip, so she would essentially make no money. After her first three months, like in most jobs, she would be reevaluated and considered for a bonus, in which case she would keep some money.
Amara dropped the contract and buried her face in her hands. “I sort of have a boyfriend,” she said. Her hands muffled her voice, but she knew Vivienne could hear her.
“I know. Colin Wolfe. Son of Demetrius and Willa Wolfe. His father is the CEO of Wolfe Investment Group, along with a couple of other high profile companies.”
Amara screwed her eyes shut under her hands, appalled by it all.
“Does Philip know this as well?”
Vivienne laughed at her muffled question, and Amara dropped her hands and looked up at her amused face. “Philip knows everything about your life. Yes, he knows this.” She shook her head, as if she wanted to say more, but stopped herself from doing so.
“How can I just leave him?” Amara asked in a strained voice. Her heart hurt just thinking about it.
“Your graduation is next week. You have a job in Paris that has been offered to you. You cannot turn it down, and you think it’s better to cut ties now because you do not want to hurt him,” Vivienne said, fabricating the outrageous story in seconds.
Amara gaped at her. “I can’t tell him that. I can’t just lie to him.”
“You won’t be lying to him. You are going to Paris at the end of next week and will be gone indefinitely. When you are ready and well trained, we will bring you back to the States.”
She sucked in a breath at the mention of training for the job. Emotions swirled inside of her. Amara continued to smother the fear that threatened to seep through with the last ounces of courage she had left. Her mother —she needed to think about her mother. Amara had dreamed of going to Paris, but her dream had always included Colin. She thought about the cancerous tumor that was clouding her mother’s brain. The thought of a life without her in it was the only thing Amara needed to consider in order to come up with the same conclusion she had five years ago.
“But what about when this is over? I’ll have no job—“

Book Description:

Sometimes, it takes more than love to
mend a shattered heart.

After eight years of
being tossed around from one home to another, never forming any meaningful
friendships or bonds with her foster families, Claire's caseworker gives her an
ultimatum: Behave or your next home will be a halfway house.

When fifteen-year-old
Claire arrives at the home of Jackie Knight and meets Jackie's fifteen-year-old
son, tattooed guitarist Chris, she fears she'll be seeing the inside of that
halfway house soon. But Chris isn't like any other guy Claire has ever

patience.

Claire has finally
found her forever home and she and Chris soon find themselves falling in love.

But Chris’s dreams of
musical stardom and Claire’s need for a stable home soon put their love in
jeopardy. Chris struggles deeply with his plans for the future, entirely
reluctant to leave Claire behind; until Claire does something that may break
their love — and the only home she’s comes to know — forever.

Chapter Eleven
Chris
Forever Addicted

I tumble out of bed and drag myself out of my
bedroom and into the hallway. When I push open the bathroom door, my eyes widen
at what I’ve stumbled upon. Claire is standing next to the toilet, holding her
new cell phone over the toilet bowl. Her lips are pressed together in a hard
line across her delicate face.
“What the fuck?” is the first thing that slips
out of my mouth.
“I don’t want this thing anymore.”
“Please don’t drop it in the toilet.”
“What is the point of having a cell phone if you
never answer it?”
Oh, shit. She’s had
this phone two months and it’s turned her into a crazy person. I don’t dare say
this out loud, but I’m beginning to wish I’d gotten her something else for her
birthday.
If I don’t call her back within a few minutes,
she accuses me of playing games. If she doesn’t call me back right away, it’s
because she was busy. I don’t think she even realizes how insane this sounds.
“What do you want me to do? Just tell me what
you want and I’ll do it.” I inch closer to her and she smiles when she realizes
she has my attention. “You want me to promise I’ll never wait more than five
minutes to call you back? Would that make you happy?”
She loses the smile and purses her lips. “This
phone has turned me into an addict. I look at it every two minutes to check for
missed calls and texts from you. It’s sick!”
I reach for her wrist and slowly move my hand
down until the phone is in my hand. I place it gently on the bathroom counter,
then I look her in the eyes.
“Babe, you’re not addicted to your phone. You’re
addicted to me.”
“Shut up!” she smacks my chest and I try not to
laugh too loud.
I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her
against me. She’s breathing hard as my lips hover over hers. “Don’t you have to
get ready for school?”
“It’s a late day. I don’t have to be at school
for two and a half hours.”
I smile. It actually makes me happy that I can’t
remember what day is a late day anymore since I quit school. The only regret I
have about quitting school is that Claire is alone now. With Jake and Rachel
graduated, and Tristan hanging out with his new girlfriend, Ashley, Claire says
she spends most of her time outside of class reading.
“Good, ‘cause I have plans for you…. I gonna
text you for two hours straight.”
“You’re such a jerk!”
She tries to push me away and I lean in to kiss
her. At first she closes her mouth, but she laughs when I plant a loud kiss on
her cheek. And I seize the opportunity to kiss her hard.
Seconds later, we’re lying on my bed, the sheets
bunched up beneath her and my hand easing down her waist to her hip. She grabs
my hand to stop me and I smile as I move my hand up. I trail my lips over her
smooth jaw and plant a soft kiss on her neck. I hear a sniffing noise and I
quickly pull my head back, afraid she’s crying.
“Oh, my God. You smell so good,” she says,
leaning forward so she can sniff my shoulder.
“Really?”
She grabs fistfuls of my T-shirt and brings them
to her nose as she inhales. “Yes! Is that some kind of cologne or something?”
“No, it’s laundry soap and you use the same one.”
“No, it has to be something else.”
I reach up and lightly drag my fingertip across
her jawline. “Yeah, it’s laundry soap and my pheromones, which you obviously
can’t get enough of. Addict.”
“Shut up.”
“What? There’s nothing wrong with that. I can’t
get enough of your scent either.” I bury my face in the crook of her neck and
she lets out a soft gasp when I lick her skin. “You smell sweet and salty at
the same time, like raspberries with a hint of the beach. It’s fucking
intoxicating.”
“Really?” she breathes. “That’s what I smell
like to you?”
I nuzzle my nose against the sensitive spot
behind her ear and she giggles softly. “See what you do to me? I can’t get
enough of you.”
I kiss her neck and her skin is so soft, I want
to devour her. But I respect her boundaries. So minutes later, we’re on my bike
on the way to drop her off at school.  As
usual, she plants a kiss on the front of my helmet, leaving a kiss mark on the
glass. Then she bats my hand away when I try to grab her ass as she walks away.
Something about this feels too perfect. I keep
waiting for my mom to tell me that Claire’s being moved to another foster home.
Or that my mom will find out about us and Claire’s caseworker will have her
removed from our home.

Something bad is coming. It could be next week or next year. All I
know is that this can’t continue the way it has. It’s too perfect. Nothing in
my life has ever been this good or easy.

TITLE: POINT OF SUBMISSION
AUTHOR: REMY LANDON
RELEASE DATE: MAY 27

Book Description:

Cassandra Larsen is not the type to give in. But Carlo Leone is not the type to give up. The 27 year old CEO of a prominent industrial company, Carlo is rich. Powerful. And devastatingly handsome. Tragic events in his past have caused him to be guarded, to view women as playthings in a provocative game he and his colleague created. She will be a challenge--a perfect candidate for the contest.

Wary of relationships due to her rocky history, Cassandra is determined to resist Carlo’s smoldering eyes and maddening charm. Will she surrender? And will Carlo discover that this has become more than just a game--before it’s too late?

Excerpt:

Carlo was kissing her more deeply now, pausing every few seconds to nibble on her lips and allow her to catch her breath. He kept one arm wrapped around her waist, holding her tightly, while his other hand slid up her bare back in a skin-tingling trail. When he reached the nape of her neck, he pulled back to stare at her, his breathing ragged. “Take down your hair.”
This was surprising. And it sounded like an order. A tiny seed of doubt sprouted within her. She hesitated, her chest heaving.
“Take it down now, Cassandra.” His eyes were smoldering, the lamplight illuminating the clench of his jaw.
She reached up to remove the hair pins and elastic, spirals of hair cascading down. He was watching her almost hungrily, and this both unnerved and excited her.
“Beautiful,” he said softly, clearly satisfied. “Good girl.”
Now his hands were up in her hair, tugging gently and combing it out with his fingers so it fanned across her bare shoulders in long curls. A long, shuddering sigh escaped her as he put his mouth to her neck, nibbling at her skin and making a trail of cool, shiver-inducing kisses. He was gripping the underside of her hair, winding a section of it around his hand and causing her head to tip back—he wasn't pulling so much as just holding, but with the way she felt right now, she wasn't going anywhere, anyway.
His lips left her neck. He began kissing her again in the agonizingly slow, deliberate way he had, giving her time to think about how good his kisses felt in the space between them. His mouth, she had discovered, was as functional as it was beautiful. She had never been kissed so perfectly, although she was trying her damndest not to fully participate. She didn't want to let him know just what kind of major effect he was having on her, although given that she wasn't resisting and couldn't seem to prevent the little sounds she was making, she was pretty sure he had an idea.
“Lie down,” he said hoarsely. “I want to feel you underneath me.”
