Friday Frights ~ PNR Reviews ~ My Commander (Bewitched and Bewildered Book 1) by Alanea Alder

This is a very heart-warming book. I loved it and it made me laugh. Meryn is hilarious in it and poor Commander Aiden Mc Kenzie didn't know what had hit him when they met.

This story starts out with a recurring dream that Aiden, a shifter bear, kept having involving a woman who was in trouble and was calling out to him, who he knew was his mate. Then one day when out on a routine patrol he finds a trespasser who looked very similar to the woman he kept dreaming about. The trespasser is Meryn, a human who had felt drawn to be in this place and on meeting her, Aiden promptly kidnaps her which does not go down well with Meryn at all as he finds out to his cost.

When reading this story you fall in love with Meryn as what comes out of her mouth sometimes has you in stitches as you picture her standing in front of this tall well-muscled, good looking bloke giving him grief, it did make me laugh.

Aiden is totally at a loss with half of what Meryn says to him as he hasn't had much contact with humans because he comes from Lyconia a paranormal world which is a parallel to the human world.

Meryn has unwittingly found herself in Lyconia and is just finding out that things are different there, but she finds that the attraction she feels when looking at Aiden is helping a lot in the transition. It is great to read how she copes with it all, and she does as the bond that is forming between her and Aiden makes it all worthwhile.

Meryn makes friends within Aiden’s family which is unusual for Meryn as in the human world she is very much a loner, with only her computer for company, which is also her livelihood and best friend. But not all she meets in Lyconia are friendly but she finds herself rising to the challenge and very well she does to which also made me laugh out loud with what she comes out with to them.

But Meryn and Aiden’s romance does flourish and Meryn finds herself admitting as much to Aiden…

"No, because I love you and I am horribly possessive. I'm never letting you go. So even if Fate made a mistake she can kiss my ass."

You read how her life changes making her blossom in her new environment and also Aiden getting so worked up that he had to take her into his bed proper once and for all.

"Finally, our souls are one. I can feel you now. Your soul feels like a tiny hummingbird dancing around my heart. I swear I will love you for the rest of my life."

Meryn realized that the warm, safe feeling she had was Aiden's soul protecting hers. She reached up and brushed the hair away from his eyes.

"And I will love you forever."

I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more in this series. Great work Ms Alder a real page turner.
