Release Day Blitz, Excerpt, Review & Giveaway ~ The Anatomy of Jane by Amelia LeFay

Book Description:

Jane

I’ve always been on my own. My life used to consist of nothing but work, keeping Allen out of trouble, and if I had time, sleep. Then I became their maid.

Max

Every day more than half a million people tune in to watch my show. They trust me. I know it’s because I’m the only son of the prominent Emerson family. However, I like to believe it because I’m honest no matter what story I report on. I’m honest about everything but the man I’ve been f**king for the last four years… and now her.

Wesley

I want three things: First, Maxwell Emerson and Jane Chapman both in my bed. Second, to be the best bloody chef in the country. Third, to figure out how to simultaneously get the first and second things I want without any of us getting hurt.

THREE PEOPLE.

ONE LOVE STORY….

“Complicated love stories are the best kind.”

The Anatomy of Jane is one of those books that I affectionately call “Pringles” because once you pop, you cannot stop. This is one addictive read and one that you will not want to put down, at least I couldn’t and didn’t. This book is seriously, seriously hot…the chemistry is on point, palpable and totally all-consuming. Palpitations…check…in need of a defibrillator…definitely check.

I adore my MM and MMF reads and this book has both. What starts off as two rutting deers with off the charts chemistry soon becomes three, but is this a case of two’s company and three’s a crowd?

“If she likes me, she has to like you because you’re part of me.”

Jane was such an adorable character; she had had a really hard start in life but never let it get the better of her. She worked hard and appreciated everything that she had earned. Her scruples and morals were all in the right place and add that to her wicked sense of humour, her strength of character and her tenacity you were presented with a perfect heroine that you couldn’t help but adore. With no family to call her own she only had a couple of friends, one of which she had been friends with since they were kids and who she worked for at his “gentleman’s” club. Jane was a jack of all trades at the club, she was a seamstress, a makeup artist, hairdresser, manager and accountant, she basically kept the club straight and running well…until the ultimate betrayal. Leaving the club for good Jane needs to make a living and so she falls into her other remaining friend’s business, as a maid.

“I’ve seen ugly people. I’ve seen pretty people who think they aren’t ugly. Jane Chapman, you are breathtakingly beautiful.”

Being a maid for Maxwell Emerson brings with it a NDA and is eye opening in more ways than one.  Not only he is super rich, insanely gorgeous and has one the most beautiful penthouses in the city but he also has a secret lover, a hot, gorgeous secret lover who is a top chef and his name is Wesley Uhler.

“Some people have resting bitch face. I have what Wes calls ‘resting asshole personality.’ For him, people just melt in his hands…he is a people person and I’m the Grinch.”

Max and Wes were intense, their chemistry was off the charts and they adored one and other. They had kept their relationship under wraps for four years and treasured their privacy. Max’s parents refused to believe their son was gay and what with his mum being in politics and now running for president he had to stay firmly in the closet. Max and Wes made the most of what they had together, but a relationship under that much secrecy creates issues in itself, after all, who really wants to be kept a secret?

Cue Jane cleaning, cue two men so totally consumed by one and other they don’t notice said cleaner, cue said men getting down and dirty and cue one cleaner who couldn’t keep her eyes away. Hot!!! Insanely hot!!

“…I’ve decided to make you my lovers. This could end horribly, horribly wrong, but until then…I’m going to have the best goddamn sex of my life. Don’t hold back and cheers.”

It seems both men are just as enamoured with Jane as she is with them and so two becomes three. I loved the dynamic of these three. Not only does Max get his “beard,” but these three genuinely loved one and other. There was no top of the tree, all three were equals, they talked, they discussed and they made decisions together. It was an equal opportunity’s relationship, yes it may have been unconventional but you cannot help who you fall in love with and who says falling for two men is wrong?

“I wasn’t a good girl. I wasn’t a bad girl. I was their girl.”

Amelia Lefay delivered a book that will have you laughing as well as crying. The banter and dynamic between this three was on point and was as intense as it was hilarious. You have secondary characters that really add value, especially Irene, Max’s cousin and as a complete package this book really worked. The character connection delivered on all points and I became totally emotionally invested with these three. This is the first book of a duet and now I am frantically awaiting The Anatomy of Us. This was a fantastic read and one that I loved from the first till last page.

“Why are you thanking me? I get to marry a millionaire husband and get a sexy lover on the side who cooks…I’m living the dream.”

(I read an unedited version and I have not taken into account errors in this review assuming they will be fixed during the editing process. Quotes may change.)

Excerpt:

“I’ve seen ugly people. I’ve seen pretty people who think they aren’t ugly. Jane Chapman, you are breathtakingly beautiful.”

“You can’t like two people equally,” she whispered as I leaned into her.

“Watch me.” I wanted to kiss her lips, and I was sure she wanted me to, but instead I kissed her forehead.

“Door open,” said the automated door, and we both turned and watched as Maxwell came inside. His blue eyes looked between the both of us.

In a flash, she was on her feet, giving him a quick ‘hi’ before running up the stairs and back into her room.

He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck as he walked into the kitchen. “I think she just might like you more than she likes me.”

Handing him my wine, I leaned against the island and stared up at Jane’s closed door. “If she likes me, she has to like you, because you’re part of me.”

“How is it so easy for you to say stuff like that?” he asked, downing the remaining wine.

“That’s just how it is,” I replied. “That’s just who I am.”

About the Author:

Amelia LeFay is a character of my own imagination. She’s a single woman in her mid twenties in love with sex. Dirty sex, rough sex, sex of any type. She’s not a whore or a slut. She believes a woman should be allowed to sexually express herself anyway she wishes.

She stands for Gay Rights, Women’s Rights, the rights of Minorities, and Environmental protection.

She can be a bitch but doesn’t think there is anything wrong with that.

She has uneven boobs, stretch marks on her ass, astigmatism, and thighs that rub together as she walks. (Which means no pair of jeans last as long as she wishes they would.)

But most importantly Amelia is a Dreamer…she has dreams so big it scares even her, because if she fails…if she can’t make it…she feels like nothing.
