The premise of this book was an intriguing one and just from
the blurb alone I was determined to read this with an open mind. It is true
what people say though, when a man sleeps around he is a “lad” it ups his rep
and gives him bragging rights, but when the boot is on the other foot and the
promiscuous one is a woman, she is a whore and a slag. In a world of sexual equality
though, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Our heroine, Raven,
saw this as empowerment, as her way of getting revenge on the rock star
boyfriend who she caught cheating with a groupie, her chance to prove him
wrong, she wasn’t vanilla, she was risqué and what better way to prove it…other
than publicly.
“Please think carefully before
you make your choices. Sometimes control isn’t all it seems to be. Sometimes
it’s just a matter of knowing who you can trust to get you safely home again.”
Raven was a woman who had been hurt one too many times and
after catching her cheating boyfriend it was the straw that broke the camel’s
back. Drunk off her face and with her bestie, Marsha, filming her rant, Raven
depicts in all its glory her method for revenge, uploaded to YouTube and ten
million hits later Raven has the television networks eating out of her hands
wanting to televise the whole thing. Reality TV at its dirtiest. The idea was
fun while drunk, but when push comes to shove the reality is a lot more
daunting. Raven could never have guessed that she would meet her soul mate, but
she has a contract to uphold and more rockers to fuck.
Lucky was a rocker from the UK and he was adorable from the
very beginning, any woman would struggle to not fall for his charms and what
not. I loved everything about him, his relationship with his bandmates and his
sister at the top of that list. Lucky is not you’re a-typical rocker, he has
standards, he’s no saint, but he is in control of himself and those around him.
He takes his responsibilities seriously and when he loves, he loves hard.
“My heart. My head. You aren’t
just inside those places now. You are the master of them. I want to please you.
I want to inspire you. I want to always be yours.”
This was a journey of discovery for Raven, she had a lot of
guilt about her past that was still a huge burden and then there was the
situation with the ex. Raven was incredibly spontaneous, she lived by the sword
and would probably die by it to, but underneath that armour was a woman
desperate to be loved and accepted for who she was, not what everyone else
wanted her to be. While this was probably not the answer it did wonders for her
confidence and led her into the path of someone she never knew she wanted.
The whole Rock F*ck Club is and isn’t what it seems and I
would encourage people to see past the synopsis and read the book for its
content rather assumptions. The message throughout was well done, the
supporting characters were as lovable as Raven and Lucky and the whole book was
unputdownable. This was a one sitting read for me and while I shook my head at
some of Raven’s decisions I was more than appeased by the end.

Michelle Mankin delivers a hot and steamy read and while the
sex scenes are aplenty the ones that matter are intense, honest and real. I
loved the emotional connection that I had to the two main characters and I
loved the fact that this story did not go the way I anticipated. The dialogue
was on point, the character connection was nailed and a unique, believable,
addictive storyline was delivered. I am hoping that this is the first book in a
series about the Dragon’s, all the band members will have a great story to tell
and I am especially intrigued with Sky and Rocky and of course our MM couple
Alec and Cody. So, Michelle Mankin, get your fingers poised, I want more!!
